Finally: the trip
While traveling with students, faculty and staff are expected to serve as resources for students at all times. They also serve as role models, especially when special behavior or decorum may be required.
Trip leaders and field assistants must participate in all activities with the group. This includes but is not limited to briefings in the morning, all activities throughout the day and debriefings in the evening.
Remain flexible and upbeat throughout the trip. This may require making adjustments to travel plans or trip logistics when unexpected scenarios arise.
That said, if you find yourself in a situation where an additional and unexpected cost arises because of travel delays or plan changes, please use discretion in racking up additional expenses. We need to balance the quality of experience for the students with the additional costs. If you are concerned about an expense, call your emergency Media School contact (usually the student services program coordinator).
Ensure that all students are accounted for during all travel. This includes during the trip to and from the destination, as well as while at events. Consider employing a group messaging application like GroupMe for easier group communication.
