Barbara Restle Research & Creative Activity Grants

The Barbara Restle Research & Creative Activity Grant provides funding support to faculty whose research or creative activities engage with the topics of environmental communication or media and democracy. All full-time permanent faculty (TT and NTT) in the Media School engaged in research or creative activity are eligible.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Available grants are $7,000 each, however, larger funding requests may be considered based on project scope, demonstrated need, and the number of proposals received.

Apply

In addition to outlining the project’s scope and significance, the proposal must specify how the project will address public impact. As per donor intent, applicants will need to consider how the project’s work can be delivered to external non-academic audiences, including media practitioners, policy and governance bodies, government, and community organizations. Funds will be allocated to faculty research accounts with unused funds returned to the school by June 30, 2026.
