How to enroll from the waitlist
For all questions pertaining to enrollment and rosters, drop/add, waitlists and grading, go to the registrar’s website.
Undergraduate classes need a minimum of 10 students registered, and graduate classes need five. If classes do not meet these criteria, they will be canceled, and the instructor reassigned.
Contact scheduling coordinator Jozey Akers with questions about drop/add/waitlist. The Media School has specific procedures for dealing with waitlists and drop/add.
A student who would like to get into a section of your class must follow the following procedures:
If there are open seats in your class
If your class is restricted according to class standing or prerequisites, and you wish to let a student in and there are open seats, please inform Jozey Akers, the scheduling coordinator, by email request immediately. The scheduling coordinator can process an override to the restriction. The student will then be able to add the class during or after the student’s regular registration date and time as long as there are open seats in the class. This includes the first week of classes.
If your class is closed
Tell the student to put herself on the waitlist for your class if she is not already. She should attend and participate in all classes during the first four days of the first week. She should wait out the natural progression of the waitlist. Waitlists stop running at 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of the semester. Tell the student to add the course if possible after that.
On the following Monday, if the student has not made it into your class via the normal waitlist run, nor has she added during the short window between the end of the waitlist run and the start of “late drop/add,” you may then ask the student to initiate an e-add, which will come to your email inbox for your approval. Please approve it promptly.
Once you approve the request, it goes to the scheduling coordinator. She will approve it except in cases where enrollment is strictly capped for accreditation purposes. She can provide you with a list of those classes.
