Student rules and expectations
Students in field experience courses have agreed to abide by the rules described on this page. As the trip leader, you have the authority to set additional rules.
If a student becomes unmanageable during the trip, he or she can be sent home.
Free time
Media School policy requires students to always be in groups of at least two during the day, and at least three at night, when they leave the hotel during free time. We highly discourage against individual wandering.
You may want to set a curfew, but keep in mind you will need to stay up to enforce it.
Guests
Absolutely no guests are allowed at the hotel, and students are strictly forbidden from sharing information about where they are staying with anyone outside of the group.
Alcohol
Students who travel with The Media School should view the trips as an extension of their time on campus. As such, while they are participating in official events that are a part of the trip, they should not be consuming alcohol, just as they would not consume it in the classroom or during a meal at Franklin Hall.
Media School policy does not allow the school to pay for alcohol for students. Trip leaders may not use the travel credit card to pay for alcohol, and alcohol purchases will not be reimbursed.
Students who are of legal drinking age under the local laws may drink alcohol at their own expense as long as they are not at official events.
Students sign an alcohol and drug policy, which requires them to follow local law. It restricts against drinking alcohol while in transit, and states that The Media School (and its representatives) will never provide alcohol to students.
